Уильям Райт (англ. William Wright; 17 января 1830, Малайя (Бенгалия) — 22 мая 1889, Кембридж) — британский семитолог.[2]
Биография
Учился в Сент-Эндрюсском университете, Университете Галле и Лейденском университете.
В 1855—1856 годах — профессор арабского языка в Университетском колледже Лондона, в 1856—1861 годах — в Дублине.
В 1861—1870 годах — сотрудник отдела рукописей Британского музея.
С 1870 года — Адамсовский профессор арабского языка в Кембридже.[3]
Научное наследие
В обучении арабскому языку продолжает использоваться его «Грамматика».
Многие его работы по сирийской литературе сохраняют свою научною ценность, особенно каталоги Британской библиотеки и Кембриджской университетской библиотеки.
